Construction Nears Completion on Yemen’s First Strategic Fishery Export Center in Hadhramout

These days work is progressing rapidly to complete the construction and preparation of the first Strategic Fishery Export Center in Yemen, located on the Hadramout coast, with funding from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The center will control and oversee the export of fresh and frozen fish products in accordance with international quality standards (HACCP) and ensure the full implementation of the HACCP system during all stages of preparation, packaging, and transportation of fish exports.

The center will include a modern laboratory equipped with the latest international testing devices to conduct comprehensive and precise analyses of fishery exports. It will also feature halls for sorting and inspecting the products of export companies, facilities for reprocessing and repackaging, and the issuance of health certificates, in addition to technical and administrative offices equipped with advanced equipment.

The work is being carried out by a qualified government team from the Quality Department of the Arabian Sea Fisheries Authority, with extensive experience in fish technology and recognized internationally by the European Commission and other relevant international organizations.
The Fish Export Center is expected to be inaugurated at the beginning of 2026
